Mary Poppins literal annalysis

All of a sudden the howling wind started blowing and the sky got darker, and then a mysterious woman started floating down with her umbrella. The other nannies were gone and the only one left was the mystery woman that floated down with nothing but her umbrella. Her name was Mary Poppins and she was the answer to Mr. Bank’s family problem. In the movie “Mary Poppins” by P.L. Travers the plot line and characteristics proved that the mode of literature is Romance.

Although the characteristics helped prove the mode of literature, I am going to talk about the plot line first and how it helped prove the mode. The two main things on the romance plot line are a life symbolism and a minor conflict. Mary Poppins was the life symbolism because she was the new nanny for the kids. The minor conflict was that Mary Poppins almost got fired for bringing Bert and his chimney sweep friends into the house.

Although there was a minor conflict with the chimney sweeps Mary Poppins could do nothing wrong and she was completely in control. Also the movie was highly unrealistic and it was such a fantasy vision, because they could jump into pictures and fly with umbrellas. Things seemed much better than they really were and good was powerful while evil was weak. Which meant the dad was weak while Mary Poppins was strong.

The characteristics were just another thing to prove that the mode of literature of “Mary Poppins” is romance but the symbolism just topped it off. The movie took place in the spring time, where there are little birdies flying around and the flowers are starting to bloom. The baby animals and the singing really helped me find out the mode of literature for the movie “Mary Poppins.”
As you can see the movie “Mary Poppins” follows the romantic mode of literature. I said before that the plot line, characteristics and symbolism helped me figure the mode out. That is my take on the movie “Mary Poppins” by P.L Travers.
